FAQs
How can you help me now that you are involved?
Impact are seeking to resolve the matter that has been referred to us by our client. We require you to either pay the account in full or if this is not possible, you need to make an acceptable payment arrangement. You can propose a payment arrangement online by completing the payment arrangement section. Click here to make a payment arrangement.
What if the payment arrangement is not accepted?
Impact and our clients are not here to make life difficult for you. We seek to help you to resolve your debt. If the payment arrangement proposed is outside of your creditors requirements, then we may ask you to provide an updated statement of financial position, which is similar to the document you may have completed to obtain the finance, product or service. You may submit a budget by completing the budget planner available on this site. To go to the budget planner, click here
What happens if my circumstances change?
Please let us know if anything unforeseen happens whilst you have a payment arrangement. Depending on the situation we should be able to re-negotiate your arrangement with your creditor.
What will happen to my credit rating?
Impact do not have the ability to default you with a credit reporting agency. However, your creditor may do so if they have the relevant access to a credit reporting agency such as Dunn & Bradstreet or Veda Advantage (Formerly Baycorp Advantage). Our client, your creditor, may list your debt with a credit reporting agency generally if you are over 60 days in arrears on your debt. A "Default" Listing will remain on your credit file for 5 years. However, once the debt has been paid in full, the listing will be updated to PAID to indicate the matter is finalised.
What if I moved address and forgot about the debt?
If you moved address and failed to notify the creditor of a new address, then you are likely to be in breach of your credit contract. You are required to provide updated contact details to your creditor whenever they change. This includes relevant contact details. If you fail to do so, and you fauil to pay your account, you may be listed with a credit reporting agency and your listing noted as a "Clear out". This listing may remain on your credit file for 7 years. Once the account has been paid in full this listing will be updated to PAID.
What happens once I enter into a payment arrangement?
Once a payment arrangement is accepted, we will confirm the details of the arrangement in writing. We will then cease to contact you unless:
- the arrangement is broken (IE: Payment not received in accordance with the arrangement)
- We need to confirm further details regarding the method of payment
- A review of the existing arrangement is due (this is usually undertaken where circumstances are expected to change)
- We have had returned mail and / or need to confirm contact details
- To inform you the account has been finalised
Please note that if we have initiated legal action through the Local Court or interstate equivalent, then unless the payment arrangement finalised the account within 30 days of the date of service of an initiating process, we may obtain Judgment against you. However, we will not enforce that Judgment providing the arrangement is strictly maintained.
